Evening in the Garden - May - ALL Ford Students will Perform!

Tuesday, May 1 – 5:30 – 7:30
(Rain date – Thursday, May 3)

Dear Ford Families,
Our Annual “Evening in the Garden” presentation will be on Tuesday, May 1 on the Ford Blacktop (see schedule below).  All Ford students will participate in this wonderful performance opportunity.  This year’s presentation entitled “Children of the World” will feature folk songs from many different countries.  Please let me know if you have any questions about your child’s performance. Performance Schedule
5:45 – Knd/1st grade come to the risers
6:00 – Knd/ 1st grade performs
6:15 – 2nd/3rd grade come to the risers
6:30 – 2nd/3rd grade performs
6:45 – 4th/5th grade come to the risers
6:45 – Ford Orff Ensemble
7:00 – 4th/5th grade performs
*Chorus will perform at all concerts

Please allow plenty of time for parking!

Performance Attire
Knd* – Wear class shirt and solid color shorts/pants
1st* – Wear a solid color red, yellow, blue, gray or green shirt and solid color shorts/pants
2nd* – Wear class shirt and solid color shorts/pants
3rd*- Wear a solid color blue, orange, green, purple, gray or yellow shirt with solid color shorts/pants
4th* – Wear a solid white shirt with solid color shorts/pants
5th* – Wear 5th Grade shirt with solid color shorts/pants
Chorus /Orff Ensemble* – Wear Ford Music Shirt with solid color shorts/pants

*All shirts will need to be tucked in so please wear a belt if appropriate
*For safety reasons please wear closed toe & closed heel shoes (please no sandals or crocs) to the performance.

3 Piggy Opera Performances - First Grade


First Grade Parents please join us as we share some activities from music class as well as our presentation of “The Three Piggy Opera”.  All performances will take place in the music room at 1:15 PM.  Students should wear blue jeans and a solid color shirt.  There will be a reception in the small cafeteria following each performance.  We hope to see you there!

Smith-Gilbert Recital - March 10

The Smith-Gilbert Gardens (Ford's newest Partner in Education) will be showcasing Ford musicians during the opening of it's new Children's Garden this Saturday, March 10. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 10 AM and Ford students will perform from 10:30-11:30. Come enjoy 13 young musicians showcase their musical talents while performing on the piano.

Ford's annual "Evening in the Garden" is fast approaching. Please mark May 1st from 5:30-7:30 on your calender (rain date - May 3). ALL Ford students will be performing folk songs from around the world and displaying original art work. You don't want to miss this exciting event!

Orff Ensemble - now forming!

Dear 4th & 5th Grade Parents,

I am putting together an Orff Ensemble (barred instruments, hand drums, recorders, etc.)  for the Spring semester.  This group will rehearse on Wednesday Mornings from 7:15-7:50 during February, March and April and then perform at “Evening in the Garden” on May 1.
 
Lottery
            Due to limited space (20) Orff ensemble members will be chosen based on a lottery system. Students who return the necessary paperwork will be assigned a number and then 20 numbers will be drawn from a hat.  Behavior recommendations from homeroom teachers and parent/student commitment will also be taken into consideration.

Rehearsal/Performance Schedule
Wednesday, February 15 – The bottom portion of this form is due to Mr. Hurley.
Wednesday, February 22 – Students will be notified if they have been chosen for Orff Ensemble.
Wednesday, February 29 – Rehearsal #1 from 7:15-7:50
Wednesday, March 7 - Rehearsal #2 from 7:15-7:50
Wednesday, March 14 – Rehearsal #3 from 7:15-7:50
Wednesday, March 21 – Rehearsal #4 from 7:15-7:50
Wednesday, March 28 – Rehearsal #5 from 7:15-7:50
Wednesday, April 4 – NO REHEARSAL DUE TO SPRING BREAK
Wednesday, April 11 – Rehearsal #6 from 7:15 – 7:50
Wednesday, April 18 – Rehearsal #7 from 7:15-7:50
Wednesday, April 25 – Rehearsal #8 from 7:15-7:50
Tuesday, May 1 – “Evening in the Garden” – 5:30 PM
Friday, May 4 – “Pops in the Park” 6-9 PM* at Harrison High School
            *not sure of our exact performance time

Orff Ensemble will only meet during the Spring Semester
           
Orff Ensemble Donation
Students who participate in Orff Ensemble will be requested to pay a $15.00 fee.  This money will be used to purchase pieces of music, pay for a shirt and any other related expenses.  Chorus and/or former Tone-Chime Ensemble members will NOT need to send in a separate Orff Ensemble donation.
